NASA’s Astronaut Group 2 supplied the first U.S. spacewalker in Ed White, who left the safety of his Gemini 4 spacecraft and whose EVA (extravehicular activity) thus blazed a trail for Apollo 11 moonwalkers Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
